Welcome, Coach Harper!
The video above is from the final 1.8 seconds of the first overtime of this year’s Southern Conference championship game between Western Carolina and the College of Charleston. Instead of settling for a desperation shot, Kellie Harper, NC State’s new women’s basketball head coach, draws up a play that gets her team to the free throw line. The Catamount player goes on to sink both free throws, sending the game to double overtime. Western Carolina won in three overtimes, 101-87, to earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
