Class of 1959: Former Gov. James B. Hunt

The Class of 1959 celebrated its Golden Anniversary May 1 and 2. Three members of this class agreed to sit down with a camera crew and share their memories of life at “State College.”

Gov. James B. Hunt remembers campus housing, his contraband popcorn popper and his role as study body president. He went on to serve an historic four terms as governor of North Carolina. He’s now a partner in the Womble Carlyle law firm, practicing in Raleigh, and chair of the Institute for Emerging Issues at NC State, the National Center for Public Policy and the Hunt Institute for Educational Leadership and Policy.
