Chancellor Jim Woodward takes charge in the interim at NC State

Jim Woodward was on the job at Holladay Hall one day after James Oblinger resigned as chancellor. The highly regarded chancellor emeritus of UNC-Charlotte set out quickly to notify former first lady Mary Easley that there will be no contract payout for her termination this week as executive in residence at NC State. He’s also starting conversations with lawmakers in an effort to minimize cuts to NC State’s budget and rebuild trust in the university administration.

Our Red & White for Life blog has Q&A interviews with Chancellor Woodward, NC State Trustees Suzanne Gordon ‘75 and Robert B. Jordan III ‘54, and William C. Friday ‘41, president emeritus of the UNC System, as well as articles about the resignations of NC State’s chancellor, provost and Board of Trustees chair.

Tell us what you think

We’ve gotten a lot of alumni messages about events surrounding the resignations of NC State’s top leaders, and we intend to deliver them to the Alumni Association Board of Directors, university administrators and NC State Trustees. If you have something to say about that, or how NC State moves forward, you can comment publicly on our blog, Red & White for Life, (please keep in mind our comments policy) or send a private e-mail message.

Red & White for Life … our new blog

If you’ve read this far, you know that Red & White for Life is the name of our new blog—an easy-to-use tool for keeping up with NC State and your alumni community. It’s got the best NC State-related video and articles, and it’s a place where you can share your own comments, photos and ideas.

We invited your comments, above, about recent events at NC State. While you’re visiting our blog, tell us about your favorite faculty members ... watch video of alumni—Gov. Jim Hunt, Tom Gilmore and Bob Mattocks—talking about their student days at “State College” 50 years ago and view our Reunion Weekend 2009 photos ... check our post about Kellie Harper, the new women’s basketball coach, and follow the link to send her a welcome message … and follow Janice Odom ‘94 PhD in China this summer with her Caldwell Fellows.
