Six NC State alumni are buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, and scores of others were among the young men who prepared for the D-Day invasion and fought and died as the war unfolded along the French shore. Their stories, once stored away in the file cabinets of the Park Alumni Center's basement, have now come to life.

The summer issue of the NC State magazine tells the stories of alumni who are buried at the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, France. The piece led us to find alumnus Taylor Blanton, who teaches U.S. history at Cardinal Gibbons High School and has led a remembrance project to honor those soldiers from North Carolina who died in World War I and World War II.
