Ring TraditionOfficial NC State Class RingThe Official Class Ring of NC State was unveiled Oct. 4, 2005, at a campus celebration. Designed with distinctive features to be recognizable and representative of NC State, the ring replaces the 300-plus designs from which students and alumni have chosen in recent years. A committee of students, alumni, faculty and staff worked for a year to create the design, which features the Block S, the Alumni Memorial Bell Tower, 21 bricks on one side (representing members of the university’s first freshman class) and 19 bricks on the other side (representing members of the first graduating class). It also depicts the university mace and the front door to Holladay Hall standing open to represent the university’s openness to new ideas and its land-grant mission to serve. Students can participate in the biannual Class Ring Ceremony at the Dorothy and Roy Park Alumni Center. Rings that are presented in this ceremony have been stored overnight at the Alumni Memorial Belltower. |
